Unfortunately, there are still too many accidents in the air – around 40 aircraft are involved in a collision every year, which often ends fatally. That is why we are very keen to equip your aircraft with the FLARM traffic and collision warning system. Around 15,000 helicopters in Europe are already equipped with this system and the number is growing. Fortunately, because unlike TAS systems, FLARM only warns of flying objects that are also equipped with the system.

As the human eye is often unable to detect other flying objects on a collision course because they are often on a stationary bearing, FLARM helps pilots to avoid dangerous approaches to other aircraft. In addition, the system warns of fixed ground obstacles such as power lines, radio towers, etc., which are stored in a special database.

In the event of danger, the pilot is warned of approaching traffic and the position of the flying object is shown on an existing multifunction display or an additional display supplied. This allows the pilot to take evasive action and avoid a collision.
